About an hour’s drive separated the Congaree Golf Club from Hilton Head Island. Still early in the morning, the drive was a good time to catch up on the lost sleep from an early rise. It would be another beautiful day. The sun, alone, a bright orange on the clear eastern sky, a shade of blue. Sunlight shone through branches of palmetto trees, refracted through the misty morning air, producing rays that reflected colors of yellow and gold alone marshes and ponds.

Just a day before, my family and I drove 1600 kilometers from our home up north in Ontario, Canada, south to South Carolina. A journey crossed 6 states, took 2 days, 16 hours, and 4 gas tank refills on our white Lexus.
